Simply, these lessons are what we believe in and working on every single day. In order to be the best, you need to learn how to do that. After you learn, you need to follow and do. You need to carry on with what you love to do and what you believe in. Don’t wait for success, it will come at the end. Why? because all of us are smarter than anyone of us and together, we shall achieve all our goals.

Ubuntu GNOME believes in these lessons and we shall never give up our dream to be one of the best Linux Distributions on the world in everything.

This is what Ubuntu GNOME Community has learned from Linus Torvalds.

January 2014 Report

Every month, Ubuntu GNOME Marketing & Communications Team creates a monthly report and share it with the community. We decided, starting from 2014 to publish our reports on our website as well.

The rapid growth of our Social Media Channels and our Mailing Lists are very clear and we’re really happy with the ‘high quality and standards’ we’re following to make these channels as good and useful as possible.

Ubuntu GNOME Brainstorming Team has been established to set solid plans for Ubuntu GNOME and make it even better. For the last 6 months, Ubuntu GNOME has started to grow so fast to the point it was necessary to have a dedicated department or sub-team to take care of the planning side of this project. We have done a lot and achieved a lot. We have learned from our mistakes and we learned how to avoid that next time. While it wasn’t an easy task and extra burden on the shoulders of very few active members, it was a real fun and great experience.

Today, we announce that the planning stage is over and we are now at the implementation stage. No further plans unless urgently needed. Whatever we couldn’t achieve, will be discussed with the next cycle.

Each Sub-Team of Ubuntu GNOME know the tasks assigned to the team and will work hard to achieve it for this cycle.

While we’re few in numbers but we are big when it comes to our dreams and plans and we are even bigger when it comes to passion. As for the quality of both our community and system, we are at the top and doing great.

The Roadmap of Ubuntu GNOME for Trusty Tahr Cycle has been sent to the whole community and our users are informed as well. Everyone knows what to do and we’re confident that we shall have yet another rock solid system.

Your help, support and contributions are highly needed and appreciated. Join us to make Ubuntu GNOME even better. Share your thoughts. Send us feedback. Don’t hesitate to make your voice heard. Each and every feedback is highly appreciated and taken very seriously.

Ubuntu 13.04 and all its official variants has reached
Ubuntu (and all its official variants) 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) End of Life reached on January 27 2014.

Please stop using Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 if by any chance, you’re still using it.

We have sent this reminder to our mailing list on the 7th of Jan, 2014 and posted on our social media channels as well.
This is another reminder to make sure you’re informed and updated so please take this note very seriously for your own safety.

Although Ubuntu GNOME Project is new, it has proved to be a successful one and moving forward with solid steps. During the year of 2013, our team and project have achieved a lot and we are very proud of what we have managed to accomplish successfully in one year. Here is a list of what we have achieved in 2013:

1. Ubuntu GNOME became an official variant of Ubuntu.
2. Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 is our first official release.
3. The Creation of the first Ubuntu GNOME Wiki & Documentation System.
4. The Rapid Growth of Ubuntu GNOME Social Media (Activities and Numbers of Subscribers).
5. Releasing our rock solid and stable version – Ubuntu GNOME 13.10.
6. Setting Up a full functional organized team by creating Ubuntu GNOME Sub-Teams.
7. Having a dedicated Brainstorming and Project Management Sub-Team for Ubuntu GNOME.
8. The Recruitment of new contributors to Ubuntu GNOME.
9. Having a dedicated Sub-Team for the new contributors – Ubuntu GNOME Packaging Team.
10. Being part of StartUbuntu Project.

We are so happy and proud with what we have achieved in 2013. These great accomplishments will definitely motivate us to go the extra miles, yet again, not to repeat what we have already done but to do even better. We do trust our team members and very confident that we shall do even better in 2014.

Call for Help!

As you may know, 14.04 Cycle is an LTS (Long Term Support) Cycle. Having
that said, Ubuntu and most of the official flavours will have LTS Release.
For the moment, the lack of Manpower could keep us away from having an LTS
Release. However, after a discussion with our Developers, we’d like to
announce the urgent need for these roles:

1- Someone with Bug Control to ‘Actively Commit’ to triaging Ubuntu GNOME
bugs.

2- Couple of people helping out with ‘Bug Fixing’.

3- People to help with ‘Packaging’ on the PPA’s

PLEASE NOTE: We are looking for people with experience and skills! We NEED
people to commit for 2-5 years support and not just join for few months
then leave.

NO PROMISES to be made but we would be comfortable enough to submit an
application to the Technical Board in order to have an LTS Release when we
will have volunteers who can actively contribute and help us.

Ubuntu GNOME Team is pleased to announce that starting from 1-11-2013, the full structure of Ubuntu GNOME Team has been successfully completed and our team is organized in a very professional, creative and productive way – See Ubuntu GNOME Sub-Teams Announcement.

So, the First Phase of setting up an organized team is over now.

The Second Phase is to start recruiting for each Sub-Team – Please see Getting Involved.

The Completion of the First Phase has been done by establishing a New Area/Sub-Team which will take Ubuntu GNOME Team and the whole project to the next level and improve the whole community which will eventually lead to more great results.

A New Era of Ubuntu GNOME Team’s History has begun.

We do believe that we can achieve a lot but we don’t want to walk alone, we would like to do it together and share it with, you, as a user of Ubuntu GNOME and us, as members of Ubuntu GNOME Team.
