Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) Release Candidate

We are pleased to announce the Release Candidate of Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 Desktop.

Codenamed “Saucy Salamander”, 13.10 continues Ubuntu’s proud tradition of integrating the latest and greatest open source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The team has been hard at work through this cycle, introducing new features and fixing bugs.

The release candidate images are known to be reasonably free of showstopper CD build or installer bugs, while representing a very recent snapshot of 13.10 that should be representative of the features intended to ship with the final release expected on October 17th, 2013.

Testing Ubuntu GNOME 13.10

Hi,

While we are approaching quickly from the final release of Ubuntu GNOME 13.10, it is very important to carry on with our testing in order insure we will have a successful release to be proud of.

We highly appreciate each and every valuable contribution and the most important help that we do need and seek is helping Ubuntu GNOME Team with Testing the development release (13.10) of Ubuntu GNOME.

If you are new to testing, don’t worry, that is a plus actually. Because chances to break the system are high and that is why we need. Sound weird? not really. The harder you break the system it means the better that system gets and we need to make sure we have a good stable release before the final date.

Please, have a read at: Ubuntu GNOME Testing.

As always, thank you so much for choosing and testing Ubuntu GNOME.

[Announcement] Introducing Gnome3-next PPA

Hi,

Since there were a few pieces of gnome 3.8 that did not make it into Saucy, for the 13.10 cycle gnome3 PPA will reserved for 3.8 components only. As such we have created a new Gnome3-next PPA, this will contain the GNOME 3.10 bits that we consider stable. Gnome3-staging will continue
on as usual holding the 3.10 bits that are not entirely ready just yet. Right now its a little empty, however it will start to fill up over the next week or two!

It is important to note, that if you are using gnome3-staging PPA, then you must add gnome3-next PPA as this will contain required dependencies
for the staging ppa.
